Anant successfully hit 56 of 60 targets. India has already won 11 medals in shooting, surpassing their total from the previous tournament. Anant Jeet placed second in the final with 58 points, two points behind Kuwaiti gold champion and 60-year-old Olympic medallist Abdullah Alrashidi, who also tied the world record with 60 points.
As the men’s skeet team of Anand, Angad Vir Singh Bajwa, and Khangura Gurjoat Siingh won the bronze medal in Hangzhou, it was Anand’s second medal of the day. Who is Anantjeet Singh Naruka?
Anantjeet Singh Naruka is a sports shooter from Jaipur, Rajasthan, who was born on July 1, 1998 and is currently 25 years old.
In his younger days, Naruka would often accompany his father Dalpat Singh Naruka to shooting events in nearby villages in the erstwhile royal seat of Uniara in Tonk district and with his grandfather Rajendra Singh into shooting, the initiation to the big bore gun came quickly.
A look at Anantjeet Singh Naruka’s career so far
His father, who was also a skeet shooter, first served as his coach. At a very young age, he first started shooting in 2012 and after one year, he started competing in a shooting competition in 2013. Apart from shooting, he also loves playing table tennis and cricket as per India.com.
He won the gold medal in men’s skeet at the 2015 National Shotgun Championships in Jaipur, marking his first significant victory in a senior competition.
He successfully qualified for both the team and individual men’s skeet competitions at the 2023 Asian Games. He won the silver medal in the men’s skeet event with a score of 58/60. He also won a bronze medal for the team event with his colleagues Gurjoat Singh Khangura and Angad Vir Singh Bajwa.
