The auction feature a total of 257 registered players competing for just 21 available slots.

SA20 2024 auction

The SA20 2024 auction took place on Wednesday, September 27 in Johannesburg where all the six teams took part. Joburg Super Kings picked up several big names like Imran Tahir and also made the most expensive purchase in all-rounder Dayyan Galiem for R1.60M. The list also includes several rookie players for all the six franchises in the rookie draft.

SA20 2024 auction rules

Given below are the rules at the SA20 2024 auction:

  • Each team can have up to 19 players in each squad
  • Each squad must include a minimum of 10 South African players
  • Teams can have a maximum of seven overseas players
  • Each team can have one wildcard player whose fee is excluded from the salary cap
  • The salary cap is set at R39.1 million per team
  • Teams can add one rookie player. A rookie player counts as any South African player who is 22 or younger on the auction day. He should also have never played in the SA20 league before.
