With Jim set to miss out on three gameweeks, Moore will serve as the interim head coach starting with the recent Week 11 win against Penn State.
Sherrone Moore bio
Sherrone Moore is an American college football coach and former professional player who was born on February 3, 1986, in Derby, Kansas, USA. He is currently the offensive coordinator for the Michigan Wolverines football team. During his childhood, he attended Derby High School in Derby, Kansas, where he graduated in 2004. He later attended Butler Community College before making a transfer to Oklahoma, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications in 2008.

Playing career
Prior to starting his coaching career, he played college football as an offensive lineman. He played two seasons of junior college football for Butler Community College before making the transfer to Oklahoma in 2006. He then played for Oklahoma from 2006–07, where he made 14 appearances. During his time there, Oklahoma won the Big 12 in both years but lost out on the Fiesta Bowl.
Sherrone Moore coaching career
After serving as the tight ends coach for Louisville and Central Michigan, the 37-year-old joined Michigan for the same role in 2018. By 2021, he had become the co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. This year, Moore has been serving as the sole offensive coordinator. He currently leads the Big Ten in both yards per game (424.2) and points per game (40.7) yards per game. Moreover, Sherrone Moore proved his worth earlier this year when Harbaugh served a school-imposed three-game suspension ahead of the season. During those three games, four different assistants got the opportunity to take over as game-day head coaches. Moore handled the Week 3 game against Bowling Green, where the team secured a sound 31-6 victory.

He was real calm. It was nothing like, ‘Get your [expletive] going’ or something crazy like that. Coach Moore, he’s a real relaxed guy. He doesn’t want to get the tempers up too much. He wants to keep us cool, calm, collected because he understands the assignment.”
Contract and salary
Earlier this year, in 2023, Michigan signed a new three-year deal with the Wolverines. The new deal will see him stay with the side up until 2025. As such, following the new deal, he will earn a total salary of $3.6 million. split up into $1.15 million this year, $1.2 million in 2024, and $1.25 million in 2025.
