The carefully sculpted idol by Yogiraj is scheduled for unveiling on January 22 and will be placed in the temple’s sanctum sanctorum. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi recently confirmed the selection of Arun Yogiraj’s creation for the Prana Pratishtapana of Lord Rama in Ayodhya.
Former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa expressed his happiness and praised the choice, highlighting the honor it bestows on Rama followers throughout the state. BY Vijayendra, the state president of the BJP, also echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the historical significance of Kishkindha in the state’s geography and the deep-rooted link Karnataka maintains with Lord Rama and Hanuman.
Though there have been many acknowledgments and congratulations, Arun Yogiraj stated that he has not yet received formal confirmation that his idol has been approved. In spite of this, he offered insights into his creative process and stated his intention to imbue the idol of “Ram Lalla” with divinity and a childlike quality.

Who is Arun Yogiraj?
Arun Yogiraj is a well-known sculptor and artist. He has been in the news because union minister Pralhad Joshi announced that his Lord Ram idol will grace the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
He was born and brought up in Mysuru, Karnataka. He comes from a prestigious family of sculptors. His father, Yogiraj Shilpi, was one of eight children of B. Basavanna Shilpi, an artist employed by the Mysuru palace who was sent to work on several projects, including the Gayatri Temple and the Bhuvaneshwari Temple. His grandfather also created the statue of Kaveri on the Krishna Raja Sagar Dam.
Arun Yogiraj finished his MBA after graduating from college. Later, he worked for a private company until 2008. Later on, he felt compelled to leave his career and follow his family’s legacy.
Arun Yogiraj born 1983 is aged 40.
His career
Known for his exquisite artistic skills, the sculptor has created lasting impressions with a wide range of commissions: a 21-foot monolithic stone sculpture of Hanuman Hoysala style in Chunchunkatte, KR Nagar; a 12-foot Adi Shankaracharya idol in Kedarnath, Uttarakhand; and a 15-foot monolithic white marble sculpture of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in Mysore.
Notably, he created an 11-foot modern art stone sculpture themed “Creation of Creation” at the University of Mysore, the largest 10-foot monolithic white marble sculpture of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa in India, and a 15-foot white marble sculpture of Maharaja Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar.
Arun’s outstanding sculpture collection also includes a 30-foot-tall statue of Subhash Chandra Bose, which is on display behind the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate.
