Kate was a famous individual who held important roles in NGOs like Shared Health and Focused Care. She was also the chairperson of the Oglesby Charitable Trust and the deputy chairman of the Royal Exchange Theatre. Meanwhile, Archie was pursuing his career as a personal trainer, carving his own path.
The mother-son pair, together with family members and a ski instructor, were skiing when the avalanche struck on 28 December 2023, at a resort close to Chamonix.
Regretfully, the avalanche transceivers’ absence turned out to be a crucial component in the sad incident. The family was left in shock when Kate and Archie were discovered buried beneath the snow, despite the efforts of a committed search and rescue team that included dogs, helicopters, and knowledgeable personnel.
While Jean-Marc Pillex, the mayor of Saint-Gervais and departmental councilor of Mont-Blanc, expressed deep sadness over the tragic loss in light of the region’s unpredictable weather, the public prosecutor’s office in Bonneville hinted at possible responsibility regarding the two tourists who were skiing in the area.

She was a native of the United Kingdom. After completing her elementary education, she earned a bachelor of arts in business administration and management degree from Leeds Beckett University. Subsequently, she attended Alliance Manchester Business School, where she earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA).
She was married, and her husband’s name was Philip, a financier. Together, they had a child named Charlie.

Kate Vokes began her career in a variety of roles, first as a buyer at Safeway and then as a trade marketing manager at RHM Foods. She made tremendous progress in her profession and went on to become a national account manager at Fayrefield Foods Ltd. Kate entered the consulting field and offered her skills as a management consultant to Accenture.
Her commitment to civic and charitable causes became evident as she assumed pivotal roles as chair at CityCo and board trustee for various esteemed organizations, including the Manchester Youth Zone, Young Manchester, Focused Care CIC, Royal Exchange Theatre, and the Oglesby Charitable Trust.
