Group B of the competition consists of South Africa, England, the team that won in 2022, the West Indies, and Scotland. Over the course of 24 days and five venues, 16 teams will compete in 41 matches during the U-19 World Cup.
Scotland will be making its tenth appearance in the U19 World Cup after having made nine previous trips. The side defeated Italy by 151 runs to secure their third consecutive trip to the tournament, which required them to avoid losing and a significant swing in net run-rate (NRR).
Adi Hegde grabbed five for fifteen from his nine overs, and Scotland, batting first, collapsed to finish at 229 from 39.4 overs before cruising past Italy for 78, to qualify for the U-19 World Cup 2024.
Although Scotland will have a difficult task in a group that includes three global powers, the lack of undue pressure could work in their favour as they look to turn things around in the U19 Men’s CWC 2024. Scotland’s 2022 campaign was forgettable as they placed 14th out of 16 teams.
The knowledge acquired from the qualifications might serve as a spark for a more competitive performance at the next South Africa event. Among the squad members are Adi Hegde. During the recent ICC Cricket World Cup in India, he spent a good several months honing his skills in Bengaluru.
In the Scotland U19 World Cup squad for the U19 World Cup in South Africa in 2024, he quickly established himself.
