According to the police, it is most likely to be a suicide case prompting the family of the deceased student to call for a thorough investigation into the matter.

The incident unfolded on Wednesday after a first-year B.Tech student was found lifeless in his hostel room during the night hours. The 20 year old student has been identified as Saurabh who was a Computer Science student.
Following the tragic discovery of the body of Saurabh Kumar, a first-year B.Tech CSE student at IIT-G, his family from Bihar has raised concerns of foul play surrounding his demise.
As per the information revealed by the sources close to the investigation, the first person who discovered the deceased students’ body was security personnel, while his roommate was absent from the premises.
According to the police report, a suicide note was also found out during the investigation from the student’s room which is now sent to the forensic team for the further analysis.
Taken aback by the heartbreaking tragedy, the relatives and family members of the deceased student, hailing from Bihar, have called for an investigation into his demise. In addition to the investigation, they have accused the institute of negligence.

According to the authorities, a post-mortem examination is being conducted on the student’s body and results of it are currently awaited. Meanwhile, the cops suspects that the IIT student might have committed suicide due to stress as their statement reads “We are exploring all potential scenarios and awaiting the results of the autopsy.”
IIT Guwahati Expressed Condolences
Earlier, the IIT Guwahati expressed condolences for the passing of a student as they released a statement, lamenting the loss and offering support to the bereaved family.
The statement of the institution reads “We deeply regret to inform that a male student passed away on campus on April 10th. Our thoughts are with the family, and we’re extending necessary assistance during this challenging period.
“The authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident. We urge the media to respect the privacy of the student and the sensitivity of the matter in their coverage.”
This tragic news comes just three months after a fourth year B.Tech student was rushed to hospital while being unconscious after a New Year party. Soon after reaching the hospital, the student was declared dead by the doctors.
