For the unversed, earlier, reports emerged suggesting that Roy, the prime suspect in the r*pe and murder case of a trainee doctor at a state-run hospital in Kolkata, is reported to have a history of violence against women.
The 33-year-old is accused of s*xually assaulting and killing a second-year trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. As per the CCTV footage, Roy entered the hospital’s emergency building at 4 am on the day of the incident, wearing a Bluetooth device around his neck.

Around 40 minutes later, Roy was seen leaving the building without the earphone. Investigators later found the device near the victim’s body, which was connected to Roy’s cellphone, directly linking him to the crime.

What Did the Post-mortem Report Reveal?
The post-mortem report confirmed that the 31-year-old doctor had been s*xually assaulted and murdered, revealing multiple injuries on her body, signs of a struggle, blood stains, scratch marks, and a broken collarbone.
Sanjay Roy, who was arrested on August 10, after authorities found his earphone near the victim’s body, is currently in 14-day judicial custody.

About Sanjay Roy
As per reports, since 2019, 33 year old Sanjay Roy has been working as a civic volunteer with the Kolkata Police’s Disaster Management Group, and was later transferred to the Police Welfare Cell.
He was assigned to a police outpost at the hospital, granting him access to various departments. Sources also revealed that Roy often posed as an officer, wearing a Kolkata Police T-shirt, and used his connections to stay in barracks.
He was allegedly involved in a hospital racket, extorting money from patients’ relatives by promising them beds. Further investigations uncovered disturbing content on Roy’s mobile phone, including violent and p*rnographic videos.
Reportedly, he confessed to the crime without remorse, telling police, “If you want, you can hang me,” as per the local media.
Neighbors shared troubling details about his personal life, alleging that he had married multiple times, with three of his wives leaving him due to his abusive behavior.
His fourth wife reportedly died of cancer last year. Those who knew Roy described him as a habitual offender with a consistent pattern of violence against women, and neighbors claimed he often returned home late at night, allegedly drunk.
Roy’s mother said that his son is being punished for what he did and the accused’s mother said that his son should have looked at her face and thought about her before commiting such a dastardly act.
