A ten-year-old boy named Sammy Teusch of Georgia passed away by suicide as his cause of death on May 5 in Indiana, US, after going through bullying at his school

The school district’s superintendent, Dr. Harold Olin, denied receiving any formal allegations of bullying from Sammy or his parents. He admitted to having regular interactions with the family during the year, but declined to disclose more information owing to confidentiality concerns.

Cynthia Teusch, Sammy’s grandma, expressed her dissatisfaction with the district’s claim of having a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, noting that it does not free them of responsibility for such instances.

Sammy Teusch passed away on May 5 as a result of chronic bullying. His parents, Sam and Nichole Teusch had informed the school about the ongoing bullying.

Sammy’s mother believes he ended his own life due to ongoing bullying, particularly following an unspecified incident in a bathroom last week, which left him too frightened to attend school in the days leading up to his death. His father recounted that the bullying persisted for an extended period. It began with children teasing Sammy about wearing glasses, and then they targeted his teeth.

“They were making fun of him for his glasses in the beginning, then on to make fun of his teeth. It went on for a long time,” Sam told

The situation got worse as the bullying escalated to physical violence, including instances where they physically attacked him on the school bus. According to the father, the children even went so far as to break his glasses.

Sammy’s family revealed that the harassment didn’t confine itself to school or the bus; it extended to online platforms like Snapchat, despite Sammy having limited phone access. They recounted instances where kids would send threatening texts and would make derogatory remarks about his mother.

The family of the 10-year-old highlighted that they had told the school about the bullying around 20 times in the past year, but it kept happening.
