Salman Iqbal Butt is a Pakistani former athlete turned coach who was born on March 10, 1958, in Pakistan. He is currently 66 years old, and is a renowned former national-level discus thrower. Salman is described as a stout man, with a gentle demeanour, and has worked with Nadeem for over four years. He has seemingly guided the Javelin thrower to two gold medals and one silver medal win.

Salman Iqbal Butt and Arshad Nadeem
Arshad Nadeem, initially trained under coach Rasheed Ahmed Saqi, who first discovered him at a local event. He eventually began training under Salman, who has helped him win two gold medals and one silver medal at the international level.
Salman guided Nadeem to a gold medal win at the 2019 Kathmandu South Asian Games, before a disappointing fifth place at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. However, Nadeem hopped back and won gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. He then went on to win a silver at last year’s World Athletics Championships in Budapest, behind Neeraj Chopra. Notably, Salman Iqbal Butt is guiding Nadeem at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics, where he has qualified for the final.
