Sahaja Yamalapalli is an Indian tennis player who was born on September 10, 2001, in Hyderabad, India. She was born to her mother Supriya, and father Bhavaniprasad Yamalapalli, who works at an engineering college. She is currently 23 years old and the current India’s number one in women’s tennis.

Education
Sahaja Yamalapalli graduated from the Sam Houston State University back in 2017. She graduated with a major in Food Science and Nutrition. During her time in college, she won the Player of the Year Award for collegiate tennis, becoming just the second tennis player in the university’s history.
Career and achievements
Sahaja Yamalapalli started playing tennis when she was just ten years old. She became the first women’s tennis player to earn an ITA national ranking of 110 in the university’s history, and the first to ever crack the ITA NCAA national ranking. Notably, Yamalapalli won the Southland Conference women’s tennis student-athlete of the year for the years 2018, 2019 and 2021. She won the award for being the top student in both studies and sports.
Yamalapalli eventually went on to make her professional debut on the ITF tour in 2021 and eventually won the WTA Mumbai Open. She then went on to win the SoCal Pro Series and also became just the third Indian women’s tennis player to win an ITF pro title. Sahaja Yamalapalli has also manged to win the ECT ITF women’s singles title. She mainly plays tournaments on the ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour, where she has managed to win three titles in the singles.
