German Chancellor Pays Tributes
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed his deep sorrow over the officer’s death on X, stating, “His commitment to the safety of us all deserves the highest recognition. In these bitter hours, my thoughts are with his family and all those who mourn him.”

What Exactly Happened?
At around 11:30 am local time on Friday, May 31, a YouTube livestream captured the moment a bearded man launched an attack at a rally in Germany.
The footage shows him wielding a large knife and lunging at far-right activist Michael Stürzenberger, resulting in both falling to the ground. Stürzenberger appeared to be stabbed in the face, neck, and chest.
Blood was seen dripping from a hole in his jeans and near his eyes. Several men, apparently involved in the rally, attempted to pull the attacker away from his victim.
Police arrived on the scene, and one officer was attacked by the knifeman. Two officers then fired at the attacker, who fell to the ground and reportedly died.
Four other people were injured during the rampage, and their conditions have not yet been disclosed.
Stefanie Kizina, treasurer of the BPE group, told the media: “This was not an attack, but an act of terror. The attack happened before the event even started, it must have been planned well in advance.”
