Who Shared the Video?

Gagandeep Singh initially posted the video on his X handle, but we were unable to independently verify its authenticity. In the footage, a woman is observed expressing her dissatisfaction with protesting farmers by making a provocative gesture.

The girl in the Delhi number WagonR car has now been identified as Riya Kapoor who is scouring for a job in the IT sector. She lost her father last year. While her age isn’t known, she is believed to be aged between 20-25 years.

This action leads to a heated confrontation as she uses offensive language against the demonstrators. Subsequently, the farmers approach the woman, seeking an explanation for her use of abusive words.

In response, she alleges that the farmers had harassed her and engaged in inappropriate physical contact. Simultaneously, she takes out her phone to record the unfolding events.

The video sparked a surge of reactions on social media. Bollywood actress Richa Chadha expressed her disapproval, saying, “You know you’re bad, you know.”

Meghna Girish, another user on X, voiced her opinion, stating, “Blocking commuters in the name of farmers’ protests is wrong and understandably frustrating for those who get stuck. However, the use of abusive language and provocative gestures, especially towards the elderly, cannot be justified as ‘bravery’.”

Some users of X voiced their support for the girl. One individual praised her as “brave,” while another commended her, stating, “Well done, girl. Look at how she confronted the protesting individuals disguised as farmers without fearing the consequences. She stood alone but stood tall.”

Reason Why Farmers are Protesting?

On the fifth day of the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march initiated on Tuesday, protesting farmers, mainly from Punjab and Haryana, resumed their protest. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) declared an escalation of their agitation in the upcoming days, coinciding with the ‘Bharat Bandh’ observed on Friday by farmers’ groups, trade unions, and others.

The current protest, led by Punjab farmers, centers on the demand for a central law guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 23 crops. Although the Centre’s Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) announces MSP for these crops, in Punjab, only wheat and paddy are procured by government agencies at MSP.
