The brother of late NFL star and Army Ranger Pat Tillman was taken into custody Sunday after authorities responded to a blaze at the Almaden Valley Post Office in San Jose, California.
Richard Tillman, 44, has been booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of arson following an incident where a vehicle crashed into a post office and caught fire with the incident set to have been intentional.

The crash reportedly took place at around 3 AM, sparking a huge fire that damaged the building.

Police in San Jose recently arrested stand-up comedian Richard Tillman following a report of a vehicle crashing into a US post office. The tragic accident reportedly took place on the 6500 block of Crown Boulevard in San Jose at about 3 AM on July 20, 2025. Officers reportedly arrived at the scene to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames inside the building.
The fire quickly spread but was brought under control before it caused any extensive injuries. According to reports, Richard was reportedly live-streaming the crash and is now booked under the Santa Clara County Jail. Authorities have held him without bail, with no formal charges filed as of now.

He is the younger brother of Pat Tillman and grew up in a close-knit family from California. Richard most notably delivered a heartfelt and unfiltered eulogy back at the 2004 funeral of his brother, Pat Tillman. Over the years, he has spoken out on issues such as religious freedom and military transparency and continued to attract public interest with his outspoken personality.
