Flight lieutenant Towkir Islam Sagar, a Bangladesh Air Force pilot, crashed the F-7 aircraft into Milestone College in Dhaka’s Uttara. He had a flying experience of 160 hours and the aircraft took off at 1.06 pm and crashed around 1.30 pm.

Sagar initially sustained critical injuries from the accident but later succumbed in the ICU at Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
Towkir Islam Sagar dies after training session accident
A Bangladeshi Flight Cadet named Towkir Islam Sagar, who was assigned to the 35th Squadron and a member of the 76th BAFA course, recently succumbed to his injuries on July 14, 2025. The fatal crash took place approximately at around 1:06 PM local time when his Chinese-made F-7 BGI jet lost control just shortly after takeoff. The aircraft crashed into the Milestone School and College campus, which was reportedly in session at the time of the crash.

Following the crash, Sagar was rushed to CMH in critical condition but he sadly did not survive. The fatal crash killed at least 19 people including 16 students, the pilot and two teachers and injured 164 others, leading to one of the deadliest aviation accidents in recent Dhaka history. Towkir’s passing has left the military and civilian communities in mourning.

Towkir Islam Sagar was a passionate and ambitious Air Force cadet who was widely respected by peers and instructors. He sadly passed away recently after being involved in a tragic plane crash. Towkir was known for his discipline and humility and had already shown strong promise in both academic and flight performance. He was a truly promising future fighter pilot in the Bangladesh Air Force and came from a supportive and proud Bangladeshi family.

Towkir Islam Sagar was likely in his early 20s at the time of his death and he stood at an approximate height of around 5 feet 10 inches tall.
Military career
Towkir Islam Sagar began his military journey with the Bangladesh Air Force Academy, where he joined the 76th BAFA course. During his time there, he successfully completed 100 flight hours on PT-6 aircraft during cadet training and went on to serve in the 15th Squadron, where he logged another 60 hours. He later joined the 35th Squadron, where he trained on more advanced fighter aircraft and consistently received praise for his performance.
