ESPN reportedly let baseball reporter Marly Rivera go due to remarks she made about another reporter.

As a result of saying “fuc**** cu**” on camera to journalist Ivon Gaete, ESPN fires reporter Marly Rivera

Rivera has been accused of hurling the words “fuc**** cu**” at another reporter during an interview with Aaron Judge.

The event took place last week on Tuesday, April 18, at Yankee Stadium.

As Ivon Gaete arrived to interview Judge prior to the Yankees-Angels game, Rivera and Gaete got into a fight. Rivera asserts that Gaete disregarded the appointment she had already set with Judge after being informed of it.

Rivera used obscene language that caused her to be fired during the argument. In a statement to the New York Post, ESPN said, “She no longer works here.”

“I fully accept responsibility for what I said”

The event was captured on camera. Later, Rivera attempted to make amends, but Gaete rejected it.

Rivera told New York Post:

“I fully accept responsibility for what I said, which I should not have.”

She further said:

There were extenuating circumstances but that in no way is an excuse for my actions. I am a professional with a sterling reputation across baseball and I do believe that I am being singled out by a group of individuals with whom I have a long history of professional disagreements.”

Gaete is wed to MLB’s vice president of communications, John Blundell. Along with Shohei Ohtani, she was in town on a freelance reporting assignment for Tokyo Broadcasting.

Blundell and Rivera, according to Rivera, had previously disagreed, which is why things became heated. Gaete, a freelance reporter, is the wife of MLB vice president of communications John Blundell while nothing is known of Marly’s married life.
