31-year-old Ranya Rao was born in 1993 on 28 May in Chikmagalur, Karnataka, India and is 5ft 4in tall. According to reports, she is Karnataka Director General of Police (DG) Ramachandra Rao’s stepdaughter. There are reports that Ramachandra Rao and Ranya’s mother married each other after divorcing their respective partners. The DRI has long feared that Ranya may use her father’s power and influence to get engaged in the smuggling industry.
She has two sisters named Rupali Kshirsagar and Rekha.
“Maanikya,” a 2014 Kannada film directed by Kiccha Sudeep, was her first acting role. She became well-known for her roles in the Kannada film “Pataki” (2017) and the Tamil film “Wagah” (2016).
She studied engineering in Bangalore’s Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering and after completing her education there, she reportedly went to an acting school after that before deciding to pursue acting.

Ranya Rao’s detention
In a major raid, Kannada actress Ranya Rao was arrested on Monday night at Bengaluru International Airport by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) agents after they confiscated 14.8 kg of gold from her.
Due to her frequent visits to Dubai, DRI officials had been keeping an eye on the actress, who arrived on an Emirates flight from Dubai. According to authorities, Ranya Rao, a close relative of a Karnataka IPS officer now in service, was able to wear most of the gold covertly and hide gold bars within her clothes.
Preliminary investigations reveal that when the actress arrived at the airport, she allegedly claimed to be the Director General of Police’s (DGP) daughter. After that, she requested a pick-up from the local cops, who unintentionally dropped her off at home. The DRI is currently looking into whether these officers or the IPS relative were misled or had any involvement.
