The Mumbai to Goa M2M Ferries RoPAX ferry service start date and ticket price isn’t known yet

As M2M Ferries works to develop a RoPAX ferry service that will allow passengers to bring their cars along, traveling between Mumbai and Goa may soon become more thrilling and convenient.

Known for its roll-on, roll-off (Ro-Ro) services between Mumbai and Mandwa in Raigad district, the business recently purchased a 15-year-old RoPAX ship from Italy and is currently obtaining the required permits to use it on the well-travelled Mumbai-Goa route.

According to sources, the RoPAX ship is presently undergoing maintenance at the dry dock in Mumbai and should soon be back in service. According to reports, the ferry service will drastically reduce travel time if everything goes according to plan; a trip from Mumbai to Goa will just take six and a half hours.

According to sources, the proposed service will run between the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) in Goa and Ferry Wharf in Mazgaon, Mumbai. But M2M Ferries is also negotiating with the Goa government to permit landing at a Panaji jetty.

The ferry is expected to depart from Ferry Wharf in Mazgaon, Mumbai, and dock at Mormugao Port in Goa and while the service is set to begin soon, no timeline has been given for its start as of now.

With its 620-passenger capacity and 60 car capacity, the RoPAX vessel is a desirable substitute for rail and road transport, particularly for individuals who wish to tour Goa in their own cars. The tickets price has not yet been determined but M2M Ferries is seeking government fuel subsidies and tax concessions to keep ticket prices affordable for travelers.

Arrival Point: Mormugao Port, Goa (discussions underway for docking in Panaji as well)
Passenger Capacity: 620 people

Vehicle Capacity: 60 cars
Travel Time: 6.5 hours

There are already competitors in the Mumbai-Goa travel market, such as Cordelia Cruises, which runs a high-end cruise liner along the same route.

In the meantime, the Konkan coast’s Ro-Ro network is being actively expanded by the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB). In the Raigad district, south of Mumbai, jetties for Ro-Ro services are being built at Kashid, Revdanda, and Dighi. It is anticipated that these jetties would be finished in 18 months, giving businesses and tourists additional ways to connect.

Providing a quicker, more comfortable, and more picturesque option to road and rail travel, the Mumbai-Goa RoPAX service has the potential to completely transform travel between the two locations if it is permitted. Locals who often commute between Mumbai and Goa, as well as tourists and business visitors, would especially benefit from it.

By lowering traffic, giving environmentally responsible options, and delivering an unforgettable journey along India’s breathtaking western coastline, ferry services like these have the potential to revolutionize domestic travel.
