Syed Nasir Hussain is a veteran Congress leader who was born on June 10, 1970, in Bellary City, Karnataka. He was born to his parents, Syed Hafeez and Akhtar Unnisa. Nasir Hussain is currently 53 years old. The veteran Indian politician obtained his early education in Bellary, following which he attended St. Philomena College, under Mysore University.
He completed his post-graduation in political science while studying there. Notably, Nasir Hussain has always had a keen interest in studies and has gone on to study at the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University, in Delhi. He completed his MPhil in International Relations and his PhD in the same subject at JNU.

Nasir Hussain married his wife, Mehnaz Ansari, in 2003, and the couple has two sons named Syed Hasir Hussain and Syed Tahir Hussain. His wife, Mehnaz, currently works as the South Asia chief of the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA).
Political career
Nasir Hussain has been associated with the Congress party for a very long time, having served as the national secretary of the Youth Congress in the past. He gained political prominence after becoming a Rajya Sabha MP for the first time on March 23, 2018.
Later in 2021, he became the whip of the parliamentary party in the Rajya Sabha. As a result, Syed Nasir Hussain started to establish himself as a major leader of the Congress party in the Rajya Sabha. Aside from politics, he has served as a National Media Panelist (AICC) for three years. He has also served as the chairman of many committees in the past.
