Beginning on February 15 and taking place in Chennai, the stunning city is the site of the much-awaited Prime Volleyball League 2024.

With the final scheduled for March 21 at the SDAT Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium in Chennai, the following teams will compete for the coveted trophy: Ahmedabad Defenders, Bengaluru Torpedoes, Calicut Heroes, Chennai Blitz, Delhi Toofans, Hyderabad Black Hawks, Kochi Blue Spikers, Kolkata Thunderbolts, and Mumbai Meteors.

Meanwhile, the Prime Volleyball League (PVL) is full of a lot of talented players among which is Ashamat Ullah who is back in the competition once again. He got off to a strong start in last year’s tournament. However, things didn’t go as expected as he got himself injured resulting in his removal from the tournament.

Ashamat broke his pinky finger in practice for the following game against the Kolkata Thunderbolts, which resulted in his elimination from the rest of the upcoming matches. However, the player is back again for the third season and here is all you need to know about him.

Who is Ashamat Ullah?

Ashamat Ullah is a volleyball player from Jangamakote, a village in Karnataka, who is currently playing for Hyderabad Black Hawks at the Prime Volleyball League this year. The Outsider Hitter, who is 27 years old, led his team to an exciting 3-2 victory with six points against the Ahmedabad Defenders last year before he was injured and ruled out.

Ashamat underwent a rigorous three-month rehabilitation procedure with the encouragement and support of friends and family, and he eventually returned to the sport.

The volleyball player got interested in the sport, which is a very popular sport in villages, at a very young age. He began playing volleyball in his village’s local leagues to hang out with his buddies.

Ashamat’s luck changed when a player from SRM University, Chennai, noticed him during a neighbourhood game in his hamlet and invited him to try out. He went through trials and was selected. He also appeared for the army exam and was selected as a havildar.

Ashamat kept competing for the Indian military squad and eventually earned his first cap for the country last year. He displayed his skills during the Asian Championships in Iran and is now back in the third season of the Prime Volleyball League.
