The session earned a red flag before being terminated.
Mr. Bainbridge, 69, of Barnard Castle, was a frequent competitor on the mountain course. Since his debut in the Manx GP in 2005, he had missed just two races. He finished seventh in the 2010 Classic Senior Manx Grand Prix, which was his best finish at the competition.

In a statement, the Manx Grand Prix organizers said: “We would like to express our deepest condolences to Ian’s wife, his two kids, his loved ones, and friends.
Since his début in 2005, Ian had participated frequently in the Manx Grand Prix, missing just two races. The prominent racer had raced his Manx Norton around the UK, in the Pre TT vintage at the Southern 100, and in the Bob McIntyre Memorial Races at East Fortune for many years. He was a stalwart of the vintage racing circuit.
The racer was also an enthusiastic promoter of grassroots racing, actively participating in the North East Motorcycle Racing Club and assisting new racers in obtaining their license. “A racer for over 30 years who was supported by a close network of family and friends, Ian will be sorely missed.”
