Pradeep Gupta career
Axis My India’s Director and CMD, Pradeep Gupta holds experience in media business and market research. He is a first-generation entrepreneur and creator. Gupta has a history of working with industry-leading companies before founding Axis My India.
In 1998, Pradeep Gupta established Axis My India (AMI), a printing and publishing company.
2013 saw AMI branch out into electoral forecasts, exit polls and consumer research. Under Gupta’s direction, AMI has correctly forecast a number of election outcomes while being relatively unknown.
Since 2013, Gupta has successfully forecasted election outcomes, including the 2019 General Elections, by offering precise seat-by-seat forecasts.
His speciality is accurately interpreting probability and odds, especially in light of India’s complex voting system.
Axis My India conducts exit surveys under Gupta’s supervision during every election. But when their exit poll results from the 2024 Lok Sabha elections proved to be inaccurate, Gupta lost it on live television.
The poll of polls was created by combining a total of 14 exit polls. The results handed the NDA 365 Lok Sabha seats, up from the 352 it had won in 2019, and the INDIA alliance just 146. During an interview, Pradeep Gupta, the Chairman of Axis My India, sobbed on TV due to the discrepancy between the exit polls and the real election results with many accusing him of partnering with the BJP to manipulate the stock market by giving fake figures in the exit polls for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Gupta continues to have an outstanding record in the discipline of psephology, which studies elections and voting behaviour, despite this setback.
