Following the shocking incident, Poland’s PM Donald Tusk called it “a disgrace” and remarked, “This is unacceptable. This can’t happen again.”
Grzegorz Braun lights out the candles of a Hanukkah Menorah
The incident took place just hours before Donald Tusk formed his new coalition and led the new government as the Prime Minister of Poland. Grzegorz Braun, who is a far-right member of Parliament, took out a fire extinguisher from a Hanukkah Menorah and proceeded to light out the candles.
Notably, Braun carried out the shocking act in an attempt to disrupt the parliamentary proceedings. Braun reportedly has an anti-Jewish reputation and a history of outlandish behavior. Donald Tusk, who served as Polish Prime Minister between 2007 and 2014, has returned to power and is currently leading a centralist agenda with a vow to reform Poland.
