Gopi Thotakura is a renowned pilot and aviator. He has been making headlines because he is scheduled to be the first Indian “tourist” to be sent into lower earth orbit on Blue Origin’s planned NS-25 mission.
He was born and brought up in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. According to Thotakura’s LinkedIn page, he attended the Sarala Birla Academy in Bengaluru. After that, he continued on to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical sciences.
Interestingly, Gopi Thotakura was proficient in aviation before driving. He is also one of the co-founders of Preserve Life Corp., a worldwide hub for applied health and holistic wellness that is close to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Gopi not only flies commercial jets but also gliders, hot air balloons, bush, aerobatics, and seaplanes. He has also flown medical aircraft internationally. A seasoned traveler, he just reached the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro on his most recent journey.
