Before leaving the nation on Sunday, police released a CCTV image of Pankaj Lamba, an Indian by nationality who they think killed 24-year-old Harshita Brella earlier this month
The husband of the lady who was discovered dead and packed in a car boot 100 miles from her house is believed to have fled the country. Her husband, Pankaj Lamba is the target of a worldwide manhunt.
After officers located Harshita Brella’s abandoned home in the small town of Corby, Northamptonshire, she was found in a car trunk on Brisbane Road, Ilford. Officers responded to requests for her safety, but when they received no response at her Skegness Walk house, they quickly began a fast-track search for her.

They found Brella’s body in the boot of an empty car in east London after this search, which took them around 95.7 miles from her house. Harshita’s murder was determined via a postmortem conducted at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Pankaj is currently wanted by Police on suspicion of the murder of Harshita. He is originally from India but had been living in the Corby area of Northamptonshire.

Harshita Brella was a 24-year-old Indian woman who was born in Delhi and immigrated to the UK in April of this year after getting married to Indian origin Pankaj Lamba in August of the previous year. The authorities believe that Harshita was murdered by her husband, Indian origin Pankaj who allegedly left the country soon afterward. Before being left behind, Harshita’s body, hidden in the car’s boot, had been driven 145 kilometres south to Ilford.
A post-mortem confirmed Harshita Brella, 24, died of strangulation.
Harshita Brella’s mother, Sudesh Kumari, spoke to the BBC and said her sister Sonia Dabas revealed that Harshita was excited to move to the UK in April after an arranged marriage with Pankaj Lamba.
Ms Brella’s father, Satbir Brella, said: “I want my son-in-law to be brought to justice and I want my daughter’s body brought home.”
Satbir described his daughter as a simple and serious young woman and said she wanted to be a teacher and would spend her days tutoring children in their home in Delhi, before turning to her own studies.
Ms Dabas explained that her sister and Mr Lamba had entered into an arranged marriage with a legal wedding held in August 2023 and the couple then had their traditional Indian ceremony on 22 March of this year before they left for the UK around 30 April settling in Corby, Northamptonshire.

In a statement, Chief Inspector Paul Cash of Northamptonshire Police said: “Our inquiries lead us to suspect that Harshita was murdered in Northamptonshire earlier this month by her husband Pankaj Lamba.”
Photos of Pankaj Lamba were made public by detectives in an effort to encourage anyone who could have come into contact with the suspected murderer between Sunday morning and Monday night, November 11, to get in touch with the authorities.
Harshita Brella got married to 23-year-old Pankaj Lamba in August 2023 and the couple then moved to Northamptonshire. Two months ago, Harshita Brella was placed under a Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO) at the Northampton Magistrates Court.

According to Chief Inspector Paul Cash. Investigators are trying to put together the circumstances leading up to Brella’s death by looking at security footage and doing house-to-house questions.

While additional patrols are being conducted in Corby to provide reassurance, police have told the public that there is no wider risk to the town. It is advised that anyone with knowledge on Brella’s death or who may have witnessed anything suspicious get in touch with the police. Police can be reached at 101.
