Rasheed had reportedly travelled to Italy to take part in an Olympic qualifying tournament when the incident happened.
Zohaib Rasheed disappears in Italy
Rasheed reportedly stole money from a fellow teammate’s bag when she went for training. Following the theft, he eventually disappeared without any trace and has not contacted anyone since. The Pakistan Amateur Boxing Federation revealed the news about the incident while expressing deep concern over his behavior. Colonel Nasir Ahmed, who is the secretary of the national federation, stated:
It is most embarrassing for the federation and country the way Zohaib Rasheed has behaved as he had gone there as part of a five-member squad to take part in an Olympic qualifying tournament. The police have been informed and they are now searching for him but he is not in contact with anyone”

Zohaib Rasheed is an upcoming Pakistani boxer who was born in Karachi, Pakistan. He is reportedly around 23 years old and stood at a height of 5’3”. Aside from that, there is currently no information regarding his personal life.

Rasheed was previously considered an upcoming talent in Pakistani boxing circles, and he was recently in Italy as part of a five-member squad representing Pakistan in an Olympic qualifying event. He gained prominence back in January 2022, after winning a bronze medal at the Asian Under-22 Boxing Championship in Tashkent. The following year, in November, he won a bronze medal at the Asian Boxing Championship in Jordan. He was the first Pakistani to win a medal at the Asian elite level since 2005. Despite achieving such success, his recent actions have destroyed his reputation.

Following the incident, the federation informed the Pakistan Embassy in Italy about the issue and filed a police report. As of now, the embassy has not issued any official statements. However, Rasheed will most likely face deportation back to Pakistan along with disciplinary actions from the boxing association as well as potential legal consequences.
