Noah Jones, a talented teenage artist affectionately known as Background Bob, passed away on Monday at the East Anglia Children’s Hospices Treehouse base in Ipswich.

It is with great sadness that we have to share the unfortunate news of Noah Jones' passing. More commonly known as 'Background Bob', Noah has sadly passed away at the age of 15.

During the COVID lockdown, Noah collaborated with his father, Nathan, who is a painter and decorator, using art as a means to improve his motor skills. Collectively, they created vivid visual backgrounds that drew in over 240 personalities and artists from around the world.
As a consequence of their combined efforts, these artists collaborated with Noah Jones on a collaborative art project, contributing their own artwork to the backdrops. The result of this wonderful project was the art book “Background Bob and His Amazing Friends.”
As a thank you for the wonderful care Noah received from the hospital throughout the years, the Colchester Hospital Charity started holding an auction of this artwork and book in 2021. With nearly £150,000 raised, the auction was a great success, demonstrating the public’s appreciation for Noah’s ability and the significant influence of his collaborative art project.
However, Noah Jones’s sudden death shocked everyone and caused immense grief. Due to this, he has become the talk of the town, with many people trying to find out more about him. So, here’s what we know about him:
Who was Noah Jones?
Noah Jones was a renowned teenage artist. He has been in the news because he passed away recently at the age of 15.
Many people fondly called him Background Bob. He was a native of Dedham, Essex. His father’s name is Nathan, and he is an exceptional artist.
Noah Jones was non-verbal from birth due to serious brain damage and struggles with illnesses like hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy. Despite these difficulties, he turned to painting for comfort and expression, utilizing it to develop his motor skills in addition to being a creative outlet.
He died on 20 October 2023 in Ipswich. At the time of his death, he was just 15 years old.
