However, Jabas has controversially demanded that Israel cover the costs of her plastic surgery to address the damage to her face.
The event happened in Ma’ale Adumim and left a police officer with critical injuries, including severe burns to his face. Following her arrest and an eleven-year sentence, Asraa Jabas has stirred controversy by applying twice for funding for plastic surgery since her conviction.
As word spreads that she would be freed under the terms of the deal, a number of victim organizations have voiced their disapproval and plan to petition to challenge her release. Under Israeli law, the names of Palestinian inmates scheduled for release under any accord must be disclosed on the Ministry of Justice website, giving opponents a full day to raise objections.
Israeli media reports have verified that Asraa Jabas is on the list of inmates who will be released, and they have mentioned that she has been the recipient of two grants for cosmetic surgery.
Nevertheless, it was claimed that last year, officials rejected her third application, which was for financing to reconstruct her nose. In contrast to the procedures performed on her hands, they mentioned that the reconstruction of her nose was judged “not necessary to maintain her health.”

She was involved in a significant incident in the West Bank back in 2015 when a gas cylinder explosion left her and a 45-year-old policeman called Moshe Chan with serious injuries. The incident occurred when Chan pulled over Jabas after observing her odd behavior close to the barrier. Then she spoke the words “Allah Akbar” and set off a hidden gas cylinder in her purse, which exploded.
Despite the seriousness of her crime, Asraa Jabas has successfully applied for funding twice to get cosmetic surgery after her imprisonment and eleven-year sentence.
According to recent allegations from the Israeli media, Jabas was on the parole list and had received two different grants for cosmetic surgery. But this year, officials denied her third application for nose reconstruction, saying it wasn’t required for her general health.
