The deadly shooting of 17-year-old Samuel Fels High School student Noah Scurry took place in the alley behind Rorer Street during the morning of January 14, 2025, Philadelphia police said.

A white Jeep Grand Cherokee matching the description of the vehicle seen leaving the murder scene of 17-year-old Noah Scurry, a Samuel Fels High School basketball player, was recovered in Northeast Philadelphia Wednesday morning. However, no suspects or weapons have been traced yet.
According to a Philadelphia police spokeswoman, Noah Scurry was shot at approximately 7:15 a.m. on the 5000 block of Rorer Street, close to Tacony Creek Park and Roosevelt Boulevard.
Officers arrived on the block and found Scurry was shot multiple times throughout his body and he was rushed to Jefferson Einstein Hospital, where he later died.
Police sources confirmed Scurry was one of four people shot during an unsolved May 2023 murder case in the 4600 block of Mulberry Street in Frankford and 66-year-old Ivan Hall was shot and killed on May 28, 2023, and three then-15-year-olds were shot multiple times and Scurry was one of the teens.
“The principal, coach, players, classmates, peers, are distraught,” Monique Braxton, a spokesperson for the School District of Philadelphia, said.

“This is unimaginable for them. The student was getting in the car with his mom this morning in the back of his home, and he was shot and killed. This student was about to graduate. He probably would’ve had offers to play basketball at colleges across the country. And you know, it’s just a life senselessly cut short.”

When the police got on the block, they discovered that basketball player Noah Scurry had been shot several times. At 7:37 a.m., Philadelphia Fire Department medics transported him to Jefferson Einstein Hospital, where he was declared deceased.
A white Jeep Grand Cherokee that matched the description of the car seen in the surveillance footage leading up to the murder scene was found by the police.
Police later stated on Tuesday that no weapons were found at the scene, despite their original claim that one had been seized. The circumstances surrounding the incident and the location of any suspect or suspects are being looked into by homicide detectives.
In a letter to families on Tuesday, Fels Principal Melissa Rasper expressed her condolences for Scurry.
“Ours is a tight-knit community, and I know that this is difficult news to receive even when it doesn’t occur on school property,” Principal Rasper wrote.

Who was Noah Scurry?
Noah Scurry played basketball for the boys’ team and had the highest SAT score at the school. The 17 year old was also a captain of the high school’s boys’ basketball team. He also went by the rapper name JokerOTV and had recently made a diss track Swing My Door.
