Nitheesha Kandula who is a student at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), was last seen in Los Angeles on May 28.
Bangalore-born 23 year old Nitheesha Kandula is an Indian student studying in California. She was one of several Indian students studying abroad each year at Cal State, San Bernardino, in an effort to improve their academic and professional prospects. Her abrupt disappearance has upset her family and friends who are now looking to social media for support.
Nitheesha Kandula’s height and weight are reported to be 5 feet 6 inches and 160 pounds, respectively, with black hair and black eyes. It’s thought she might have been driving a 2021 Toyota Corolla, though it’s unclear what colour it was.
Efforts by authorities to locate Nitheesha Kandula
The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Southwest Division received a missing person’s report for Nitheesha Kandula on May 30, as per a social media post by CSUSB Chief of Police John Guttierez.
The police asked people with information on the whereabouts of Nitheesha Kandula to contact them at: (909) 537-5165.” This was shared by the San Bernardino Police Department and California State University.
In an effort to expedite the probe, the Indian Consulate in San Francisco has alerted the relevant authorities and given assistance. Furthermore, they have released a statement requesting that local Indian residents exercise caution and report any suspicious activities or information that could aid in Kandula’s location.
Other students who went missing
A Telangana student enrolled in Concordia University’s Master’s programme in Wisconsin City was reported missing last month. Rupesh Chandra Chintakindi was placed under incommunicado by the Indian Consulate in Chicago on May 2.
A Hyderabadi student who had gone missing on March 7 was discovered dead in Cleveland, Ohio, in April. Mohammed Abdul Arfath, who was a Master’s student at Cleveland University in Ohio studying information technology, had not spoken to his family since March 7 and had received a call demanding money.
