Their connection deepened, leading to their vows exchanged in December 2001 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, with Reverend Don Lehmann officiating the ceremony.
Choosing to stay in Sioux Falls, the couple embarked on a new chapter in their lives. Over the years, they became proud parents to two daughters, Alexis and Avery. Alexis, following in her family’s athletic tradition, was involved in softball at Bellevue High.
She decided to join her father at the University of Washington in November 2023, further intertwining the DeBoer family with the world of collegiate sports. Avery, the younger daughter, currently in sixth grade, has shown a passion for riding horses, adding a unique dimension to the DeBoer family dynamics.
Kalen DeBoer’s ascent to head coaching positions in college football marked a significant turning point in his career. After years as an assistant, he took on the role of head coach at Fresno State in 2020. Under his leadership, the team experienced a remarkable run over two seasons. His success did not go unnoticed, and in 2022, he was hired by Washington.
DeBoer’s impact on the Washington Huskies was swift and substantial. In his second season, he secured the Pac-12 Championship and led the team to the national title game, solidifying his status as one of the premier head coaches in college football. Currently boasting a remarkable 37-8 record, DeBoer’s coaching prowess extends beyond the Xs and Os.
