West Garo Hills police have cracked a two-month-old case of the murder of a teenage girl Neha G Momin allegedly by her jealous lover with the help of an underage accomplice. The body of the missing girl was exhumed from a shallow grave in North Garo Hills on June 25th, 2022.
Following the missing report of Neha G Momin, a case was registered at the Tura women’s police station and the investigation began.

It was on June 22nd that police identified a suspect and arrested him from the Bajengdoba in North Garo Hills. This was followed by the apprehension of another suspect who later turned out to be a child in conflict with the law (CICL). During the interrogation, the arrested youth identified as Solesh R Marak revealed that he had been in a relationship with the girl for around 2-3 years.
He had a suspicion that she was having an extra affair with another boy and out of jealousy he conspired with the juvenile to lure the girl and murder her.
“The accused boyfriend along with the juvenile was snooping on her for quite some time. On April 20th, they called the girl to Bajengdoba on the pretext of getting sorting out their differences and murdered her on the same night,”. It was stated by the West Garo Hills SP VS Rathore, who had earlier formed a team to crack the case. After numerous man hunt lasting for more than 24 hours, the police identified the spot where the victim was buried.
The body of the young girl was recovered on Saturday afternoon from a place situated approximately a kilometer from the house of the arrested boyfriend near the Sona Chiring, next to just Didram River. The mobile phone of the deceased, which was buried near an electric pole and was situated approximately a radius of 100 meters from the house, was also recovered. The body has been brought to Tura for post-mortem examination.
