The BJP has selected Ravneet Singh Bittu ahead of musician Hans Raj Hans who lost from Faridkot, former Patiala MP Preneet Kaur, who was the wife of former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh, former diplomat Taranjit Singh Sandhu who lost from Amritsar, and former IAS officer Parampal Kaur Sidhu who lost from Bathinda. In the state, the BJP has been unable to establish an account.

48-year-old Ravneet Singh Bittu was born on 10 September 1975 in Kotli Ludhiana. He is 5ft 7in tall. When Bittu’s father Swaranjit Singh passed away, he was only 11 years old. His mother Jasvir Kaur was a homemaker. He attended the Guru Nanak Public School in Chandigarh. After completing schooling, he didn’t receive education further.

On August 31, 1995, pro-Khalistan extremists in Chandigarh killed his grandfather, former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, when Bittu was 20 years old. Ravneet is married to Anupama Jhajj and they have a son named Simar Singh. His wife his a housewife.
His foray into politics was facilitated by a 2007 encounter with Rahul Gandhi, the president of the Congress. Bittu has previously operated a tiny cement manufacturing facility.
Ravneet Singh Bittu career
From March 11, 2021 to July 18, 2021, Ravneet Singh Bittu led the Indian National Congress in the Lok Sabha. Bittu was elected from Anandpur Sahib in 2009 and from Ludhiana in the general elections of 2014 and 2019 to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament.
He was beaten near the Singhu border in January 2021 while participating in a Jan Sansad programme. He was named the Lok Sabha party whip. In March 2021, he was briefly named the Congress’s Lok Sabha leader when Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the current leader, was preoccupied with the West Bengal 2021 election campaigns. He received a bomb threat over a WhatsApp call in 2023. Ravneet Singh Bittu became a member of the Bharatiya Janta Party on March 24, 2024 and now he is a Minister under Narendra Modi.
