Morocco’s goalkeeper Bounou was substituted after lining up for the national anthem. However, Munir got clicked in the official pre-match team photo. The replacement was so sudden that even BBC commentators took 38 minutes for noticing the change.
Munir Mohand Mohamedi Professional Career
Munir Mohand Mohamedi plays as a goalkeeper for the club of Saudi Arabian, Al Wehda. He hails from Melilla. Munir made his debut as a senior with the AD Ceuta’s reserves in 2008 in the regional leagues. That year, he shifted to another reserve team that is UD Almeria B from Tercera Division. The 33-year-old joined the UD Melilla in the summer of 2009.
Munir was first assigned to the reserves and later on, he was promoted to the main squad in the Segunda Division B in the same year. He acted basically being a backup to Pedro Dorronsoro in his first 2 seasons at the club. Munir signed a two-year contract in 2014 with the Segunda Division side CD Numancia.
In the following year’s September, Munir made his professional debut and His debut in the second tier was on the 19th of October in, 2014, playing the full 90 minutes in a 2–0 loss at UD Las Palmas. For the remaining campaign, he became one of the first choices overtaking Biel Ribas. He left the Soria team at the end of 2017 and 2018, after losing his beginning spot to Aitor Fernandez.
In 2018, he linked with Malaga CF also in the 2nd division. From 2020 to 2022, Munir contested in the Turkish Super Lig with Hatayspor. On the 10th of June 2022, Munir agreed to a two-year deal at Saudi Arabian club Al Wehda FC. He is single and unmarried.
