Saga Forsgren Elneborg lived in Orebro. Her boyfriend, Mohamedamin Abdirisek Ibrahim, who is 22 years old and from Somalia is accused of her murder. As per authorities, he did it to protect his family’s honour and to avoid bringing shame by having a pregnant girlfriend who wasn’t accepted by his Muslim family. He is said to have killed his Swedish girlfriend by suffocating her with the cable of the bedside lamp. He has not been charged for the murder of the unborn child.

Prosecutor Elisabeth Anderson wrote: “Mohamedamin Abdirisek Ibrahim has killed Saga Forsgren Elneborg by suffocating and strangling her by means of pressure on her neck with an impact on the trachea and the blood supply to the head.”

Action against suspect

It took over a year for Ibrahim to be charged with Saga Forsgren Elneborg’s murder. However, he hasn’t been charged for the murder of their unborn child.

It’s alleged that Ibrahim hid his relationship with Ms. Forsgren from his mother because of cultural expectations to date within his own culture.

The prosecutor said Ibrahim’s DNA was found under Ms. Forsgren’s fingernails. Text messages from the night of the alleged murder show Ibrahim promising to tell his family about their relationship and baby.

Hours later, Ms. Forsgren was found dead. There’s no proof that Ibrahim’s family was involved in the murder or influenced his actions. Before the murder, Ibrahim reportedly suggested that Ms. Forsgren consider having an abortion, but she decided to keep the baby.

The family’s lawyer, Elisabeth Massi Fritz, described the alleged murder as a “ruthless” act with many serious factors that will come out during the trial. It’s been and still is a tough time for all of Saga’s relatives.” Ibrahim is scheduled to appear in court for the murder on April 10.

He denied any wrongdoing and told the police during questioning that he loved Ms. Forsgren and still can’t believe she’s gone.
