Tuesday night, Divya Pahuja, a former model who had been given bail in relation to a gangster’s fictitious encounter case months prior, was shot and killed in a hotel room in Gurugram, Haryana.

Reportedly, a handful of the culprits were detained by Gurugram Police when they were removing the body from a landfill. Police say that five individuals brought 27-year-old Divya to a room at Hotel City Point in Gurugram on Tuesday night and shot her in the head, allegedly because she had blackmailed the hotel owner with his “obscene pictures” to extract money, a claim that the family of the former model has refuted.
The police report names Abhijeet Singh (56), a native of Model Town in Hisar, as the hotel owner, along with two of his employees, Hemraj (28), a resident of Nepal, and Omprakash (23), a resident of Jalpaiguri, West Bengal.
The CCTV footage related to the incident is also going around on social media, in which two guys are allegedly seen dragging a Divya Pahuja’s body covered in sheets through Hotel City Point’s lobby before loading it into a BMW and driving it someplace.

Who was Divya Pahuja?
Divya Pahuja was a former model. She has been in the news because she was shot and killed in a hotel room in Gurugram, Haryana.
She was a native of Baldev Nagar, Gurugram, and was the daughter of a fruit and vegetable vendor. Her father has an unusual disability. In addition to her parents, she has a younger sister.
After completing her schooling, Divya Pahuja enrolled in a B.Com. course in 2018. That’s when she began her modeling career.
At the time of her death, she was 27 years old.
Her relationship with the underworld
At the age of eighteen, Divya Pahuja first developed a relationship with the underworld in 2016. Soon, she becomes the girlfriend of Sandeep Gadoli, the most wanted criminal in Gurugram, who was slain in a Haryana Police encounter at a Mumbai hotel in 2016.
Later, once Gadoli’s encounter came under investigation, Divya, her mother, and five police officers were taken into custody for allegedly disclosing the gangster’s whereabouts. As to a report by news agency PTI, the Mumbai Police have claimed that Virendra Kumar, also known as Binder Gujjar, who was in charge of a rival gang, had plotted with officers of the Haryana Police to kill Gadoli.
When they met, Gujjar was incarcerated, but he had planned the plot with his brother Manoj’s assistance and had used Divya as a scapegoat. In June 2023, the Bombay High Court released Divya from prison after she had been incarcerated for seven years.
