Born in Durban, South Africa, Matthew Ebden began playing tennis at the age of five and continued with the sport when the family moved to Australia when he was 12 years old and he grew up idolising Stefan Edberg and Andre Agassi.

Though never one of the more prominent Australians on the singles tour, Ebden won the bronze medal in men’s singles at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, which were held in New Delhi and reached a career high ranking of 39 in singles in 2018.

35 year old Ebden achieved his best doubles ranking of 15 in May this year and is currently ranked 16 on the ATP doubles charts and has earned a combined (singles and doubles) prize money of $4,935,485 before the start of Wimbledon.

He married Kim Doig, a lawyer, on 16 November 2012, in Margaret River, Australia.

As their combined ages are 70 as opposed to Bopanna-Ebden’s 78, Ram and Salisbury might have a minor advantage.
