Former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employee Marko Elez was reinstated by Elon Musk after he quit due to his racist and eugenicist social media posts.
Following a public poll on X in which a resounding majority of people supported the return of Marko Elez, Musk made the choice. The 25-year-old often posted incendiary and racist remarks on an account that has since been deactivated.

In archived posts, he wrote, “Normalise Indian hate, Just for the record, I was racist before it was cool,” and claimed that “99 per cent of Indian H1Bs will be replaced by slightly smarter LLMs, they’re going back, don’t worry guys.”
He also called for repealing the Civil Rights Act and expressed disdain for interracial marriage, writing, “You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity.”
Regarding the Middle East issue, Elez also made contentious remarks, implying that he wouldn’t mind if “Gaza and Israel were both wiped off the face of the Earth.”

In 2021, Marko Elez received his degree from Rutgers University. He holds a computer science degree. Elez cofounded a business in his sophomore year that matches high school students with mentors to assist them with their college applications.
Elez reportedly works at X on search AI. According to The Wall Street Journal, Elez, 25, was formerly employed by SpaceX and Musk’s X. Elez worked at the US Treasury as a temporary Doge appointee.
According to LinkedIn, Elez was granted access to federal funding systems worth $5.45 trillion. This covers Medicare payments, tax returns, and Social Security payouts.
Elez who is a white American, co-founded Unimetrics.io during his second year, a startup aimed at connecting high school students with experienced mentors to guide them through the college admissions processand his career later took him to SpaceX, where he worked on Starlink’s satellite technology. He then transitioned to X (formerly Twitter), focusing on artificial intelligence advancements and Elez’s close association with Musk across multiple ventures positioned him in key technological roles, eventually leading to his appointment at DOGE.
Marko Elez’s resignation
When his racist posts reappeared, Marko Elez quit his job at Musk’s DOGE. He had direct access to the Bureau of the Fiscal Service (BFS) computers of the US Treasury Department at DOGE, which manage government payments such as tax returns and Social Security.
Security concerns were raised when it was claimed that he was able to alter important code in the Payment Automation Manager and Secure Payment System thanks to his administrator capabilities. He has visited a Kansas City office that houses BFS systems, according to a Wired story, and his access went above the “read-only” level.
