About 28 videos of Marie-Jo Gordo, 29, and her former 8th-grade student engaged in s*x acts were recovered from boy’s phone, police said.
On October 25, 2023, a criminal complaint was lodged against her, according to court documents. Recently, explicit evidence involving the alleged victim was discovered on the victim’s phone, capturing intimate acts that took place within a vehicle, a hotel, and various other locations.
Marie Jo Gordo could potentially face a prison sentence of up to 90 years if convicted. Despite being charged with three felony counts, she has entered a plea of not guilty.
Originally apprehended in October following a complaint from the boy’s mother, she is presently released on bond and is slated to appear before a judge on January 18, 2024.

Marie Jo Gordo, an art teacher at an Orange County school, was sued in a Florida court in 2023. The complaint charged her with three counts of s*xually exploiting a minor (coercing and luring a juvenile to engage in s*xual activities) and federal child p**nography (making, possessing, receiving, and distributing). Her school’s name and photo haven’t been released.
Authorities have discovered nearly 28 video pieces of evidence, proving that she engaged in s*xual acts with an eighth-grade pupil in different locations throughout three counties (Seminole, Orange, and Osceola) and made s*x recordings, which were located on the boy’s iPhone 14.
All of the alleged offenses occurred between June and September 2023, and the child’s mother reported them after discovering the footage on her son’s phone.
Gordo Proclaimed Innocence
Marie Jo Gordo, arrested in October, proclaimed her innocence through a signed waiver on January 8, 2024. Currently out on bail, she is scheduled to appear before the Orlando Court on January 18, represented by attorney Phillip Arroyo.
Formerly an art teacher and religious ambassador at a charter school in Orange County, Gordo resigned from her position in June 2023 and subsequently accepted a role at another school within the county.
The names of both schools involved and the purported victim have not been disclosed. Gordo reportedly taught students ranging from kindergarten to grade 8, with the alleged victim being an eighth-grade student in 2019.
Victim’s Interrogated by FBI Task Officers
After recovering and analyzing the video footage on the boy’s phone, an FBI task force officer interrogated him in coordination with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.
The student (soon to be 18) told law enforcement investigators that, although knowing Gordo since 2019, the alleged s*xual assaults took place between June and September 2023, when he continued to see her in her car and numerous hotels, among other places.
Presently, the Apple iPhone 11 owned by Marie Jo Gordo is in the possession of law enforcement, alongside her other personal electronic devices. These items will undergo a comprehensive review to uncover any additional evidence.
