On June 13, 2026, Saturday morning, Maria went to the Skeleton Bridge aka Ponte do Esqueleto, which is an abandoned bridge in the municipality of the Limeira, Sao Paulo, a notorious place for adventurers and extreme sports.
Reportedly, Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas was there to try rope jumping, which is an extreme sport just like bungee jumping.
What Did Witnesses Reveal?
As per counts given by witnesses, to make her moment memorable, Maria requested the rope jumping staff to throw her in a “airplane-style.”
Two instructors picked her on their shoulders horizontally as she spread her arms.
Though she had a safety harness fastened around her midsection, the staff members forgot to tie the safety harness up with the main lifeline rope.

The 21-year-old woman who died after bungee jump staff threw her from a bridge without attaching her bungee cord was alive for a short time after the fall.

The video that has taken over the internet like a storm showcased the safety rope lying completely detached on the bridge platform.
Furthermore, the video footage captures people and bystanders screaming in panic as they were yelling “The rope, people, the rope,” meanwhile, she plummeted in total free-fall into the rocky ravine below.
An off-duty nurse, who was hiking nearby scaramble down a steep, muddy slope to reach Maria. The nurse revealed that initially when she reached the young Brazilian woman, she was still alive, and the nurse desperately tried to comfort her.
However, by the time, emergency services reached the scene, the young woman, Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, succumbed to her injuries.
Reports reveals that Maria’s finacé was also present at the bridge and he witnessed the entire horrific incident. Witnessing the gross negligence and her fiancée’s fall, he suffered extreme emotional shock and was hospitalized.
Who is Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas?
Although not much personal information is available about Maria, however reports reveals that she was an age 21 Brazilian student and a resident of Jandira, a municipality in São Paulo.
Reportedly, the young woman was recently graduated with a degree in Physical Education & Sports Management. She used to work at a local gym in her hometown.
