Maria was married to Peter Cummins and the family grew up in Mount Riverview in the Blue Mountains with Pat having 4 siblings, two brothers and two sisters. His sister’s names are Laura Cummins and Kara Cummins while his brother are Tim Cummins and Matt Cummins.
India won the second Test in Delhi by 6 wickets, and Pat Cummins went home after the match. He was expected to rejoin the team before the Indore Test. But he had to stay at home longer, and in the end, he was also taken out of the final face-off. Steve Smith took over as captain while he was away, and the team won the third game of the series by 9 wickets.
Pat returned to Sydney after the second test to be at the side of his mother, who was suffering from breast cancer and was in palliative care.

Pat Cummins had already said that his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and was fighting a serious illness in the past few weeks. Cummins left India in the middle of the Test series and said in a statement, “I appreciate the overwhelming support I have received from Cricket Australia and my teammates. Thanks for your understanding,” he added.
On Friday, Day 2 of the fourth Test between Australia and India, the Australian players wore black armbands as a tribute to the captain’s late mother. The first day ended with the home team on 255/4 and Usman Khawaja on 104 not out.
