Matthew “Mac” McClung is an American professional basketball player who plays for the NBA G League’s Osceola Magic he was born on January 6, 1999, in Kingsport, Tennessee, U.S and measures 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m) tall. He is unmarried and single.

McClung stands at just 6’2″ but had a vertical leap of 43.5 inches at the NBA G League Draft Combine.

A look at Mac McClung’s career

The 25-year-old was a basketball player for Texas Tech Red Raiders and Georgetown Hoyas in college. Among the top-ranked high school players in Virginia, he was universally regarded as a three-star recruit.

He is only one victory away from breaking Nate Robinson’s record of three Slam Dunk Contest victories. McClung spent time with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers in the 2021–22 NBA season after being left off of the draft in 2021.

In February 2023, McClung signed a contract with the 76ers after joining the Blue Coats for the 2022–2023 season. During the 2023 NBA All-Star Game and the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, he emerged victorious in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest straight after.

For his original professional career, he has played for teams like the South Bay Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, Delaware Blue Coats, Philadelphia 76ers and Osceola Magic.

Going undrafted out of Texas Tech in 2021, McClung began his professional career with the Los Angeles Lakers organization, as he signed with the South Bay Lakers in the G League after being waived before the start of the 2021-22 season and went on to sign two 10-day contracts with the Chicago Bulls before joining their G League affiliates, the Windy City Bulls. South Bay then reacquired his rights and McClung agreed to a two-way contract with the Lakers to finish the 2021-22 season.

In a total of 31 G League games in the past year, McClung averaged 19.8 points and 5.0 assists per game while shooting 54.8 percent from the floor and 47.4 percent from three-point range.

Mac McClung has agreed to a partially guaranteed contract with the Orlando Magic in 2023.

His sister played football at Florida State and Tennessee after graduating from high school, where she set records for goals scored, and his uncle Seth was a player for two Major League Baseball (MLB) teams. Correne and Collette, his aunts, were both Division I collegiate hockey players. Correne also represented Canada on the national team.
