How did army officer Lt Mohit Gupta go missing from Mhow Infantry School?
At the infantry school, all officers and other staff members must attend physical training (PT) sessions at 6 a.m. However, Lieutenant Gupta was notably absent, which prompted his professors to ask his other students to inquire about his well-being, according to a police officer.
Lieutenant Gupta’s room was checked at 7:30 a.m., and when he wasn’t there, the authorities were immediately informed of his disappearance. According to Deepak Rathore, the interim station house officer at Mhow police station, a formal complaint was subsequently made to the local police.
Police have received assistance from the administration of the infantry school by receiving information such as the permanent residence and cell phone of the missing officer. However, it was observed that Lieutenant Gupta’s cell phone was off at that time.
The Mhow police have formally opened an investigation over a written complaint made by Subedar Jarmal Singh, a teacher at the infantry school’s young officers wing. Rathore said that an ongoing inquiry into the situation had started.
Where was he last seen?
In accordance with information quoted by PTI, Lt Mohit Gupta was last seen in his PT uniform before going missing somewhere between 6 and 7:30 in the morning from his residence in the junior officer’s quarters. Unusually, he parked his motorcycle on the university grounds and seemed to walk away.
According to the sources, Mhow Infantry School enforces severe limitations on officers and OR personnel enrolled in various in-service courses, and they are not permitted to leave the site. However, in unexpected situations, course participants are expected to obtain proper authorization from the relevant authorities to leave the campus.
