A lawsuit worth Rs 100 crore was also threatened by the family. The Shirke family legally sent Laxman Utekar a notice on February 20th, asking him to clarify how their ancestors were portrayed in the movie and to make the required changes.
Reports state that Utekar later personally apologized to Bhushan Shirke for any unanticipated pain he may have given the family.
“We have only mentioned the names of Ganoji and Kanhoji in Chhaava without referring to their surname. We’ve also made sure to not disclose the village they belonged to. Our intention was not to hurt the sentiments of the Shirke family. I sincerely apologise if Chhaava caused any discomfort,” Utekar reportedly told Shirke.
The Shirke family has threatened to stage statewide rallies if their demands are not satisfied and their issues are not addressed.
