Langam Chaoba Devi, a former international for India, has been recommended by the technical committee of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to lead the senior national women’s football team.

The official site of the AIFF reports that former India captain Mr. IM Vijayan led the meeting, which was also attended by Mr. M Satyanarayan, Acting Secretary General of the AIFF, members Mr. Pinky Bompal Magar, Mr. Harjinder Singh, Mr. Arun Malhotra, Mr. Climax Lawrence, Mr. Eugeneson Lyngdoh, and Mr. Syed Sabir Pasha, Technical Director of the AIFF.

Who is Langam Chaoba Devi?
Langam Chaoba Devi is a former Indian women’s football player and captain who was born in Manipur on April 24, 1973. After completing her education at Kebol Girls High School, the 51-year-old attended Manipur University.
A look at Langam Chaoba Devi’s career
Langam earned the NIS Coaching Diploma from SAI Kolkata and the AFC ‘A’ qualification in 2014. She afterwards started coaching, working as the Indian women’s team’s coach.
She competed in the Danish women’s football tournament, the 9th Dana Cup International in 1990. She played for the Indian women’s squad in Ghuangzhou during the 11th Asian Women’s Football Championship in 1997. A year later, during the 12th Asian Women Football Championship in the Philippines, she led the Indian women’s team as captain.
In addition to representing India in two AFC Women’s Championships and the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok, she was the Senior Women’s Team assistant coach in the past. Currently holding the position of second place in the ongoing IWL season, Kickstart FC is led by Chaoba and is currently undefeated.
Her tenure as the Senior Women’s Team assistant coach, where she was instrumental in developing the team’s tactics and establishing an excellence-oriented culture, epitomises Langam’s coaching career.

Langam Chaoba was born to Langam Angou and Kumudini. When Langam’s name appeared in the press following her selection for the Manipur team, her parents finally decided to allow her to play football, despite their initial reluctance.
