Following the news about Kunnummal Surendran on Sunday, the BJP has now completed the selection of 398 candidates for the upcoming LS elections.
As such, the BJP have nearly completed their nominee list for the 543-member assembly in the Lok Sabha.

Kunnummal Surendran is an Indian politician who was born on March 10, 1970, in Ulliyeri, Kerala. He is currently 54 years old and serves as the 11th President of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Kerala. He has a brother named K. Gangadharan. As of March 2024, Kunnummal has been announced as the BJP candidate from the Wayanad Constituency for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. He is now set to face off against Rahul Gandhi.

Career
Kunnummal Surendran is a veteran Indian politician who is under the Bharatya Janata Party. He contested in the Lok Sabha elections from Pathanamthitta constituency back in 2019. During the Sabarimala agitation in 2018, Surendran spent over a month in jail after police arrested him in relation to the mass agitation. Back in the 2021 Kerala assembly polls, Surendran contested from the Manjeswaram and Konni constituencies, but eventually lost out on both contests.
BJP nearly completes nomination list for Lok Sabha election
Aside from Kunnummal Surendran, the reigning ruling party has currently finalized 398 nominees out of the 543-member assembly for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The list includes the following prominent names:
- Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh
- Veteran actor Arun Govil, from Meerut
- Sita Soren, sister-in-law of former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, from Dumka
- Former Karnataka CM Jagadish Shettar, from Belgaum.
- Ex-Calcutta High Court judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay from Tamluk, West Bengal
- Dilip Ghosh from Bardhaman-Durgapur
So far, the BJP has announced candidates from various states. This includes seven candidates from Rajasthan, four from Haryana, Karnataka, and Kerala, 18 from Odisha, and three candidates each from both Maharashtra, and Jharkhand. Meanwhile, in Andhra Pradesh, party president D Purandeswari is set to contest from Rajahmundry. Whereas former CM N Kiran Kumar Reddy will contest from Rajampet.
