Recently on March 22nd, reports revealed that detention officer Kawana Jenkins had been taken into custody for having a relationship with a prisoner. According to the authorities, Jenkins had a long-term inappropriate contact with the prisoner and even went so far as to give him the illegal mobile that was used to video the incident.

Why detention office Kawana Jenkins is fired from her position and arrested?
The 36-year-old Kawana Jenkins has been accused with two charges for improper sexual contact by an employee/agent, five charges related to public officer oath violation, two charges linked with reckless behavior, two for inmate cruelty, & one charge for obtaining/procuring/giving an item that is prohibited to an inmate without authorization.
A smuggled mobile that was found during a shakedown of the Fulton County Prison was used to record the incident that resulted in her termination and subsequent incarceration. The sheriff’s office claims that Jenkins was then fired and charged.
How Kawana Jenkins was caught by the investigation team
A shakedown was carried out within a high security wing by a sheriff’s strike team in late January. Eleven cell phones were seized in addition to the guns. When those phones were examined by investigators, Jenkins was seen doing a variety of activities, including sitting on an inmate’s lap and kissing him. It also went beyond simple affectionate greetings as Jenkins fulfilled a specific request made by the prisoner. Apparently, the prisoner was gifted a pair of Cartier designer glasses as per his request.
Jenkins was dismissed by Pat Labat, and he also issued an arrest warrant for her on a number of charges, including breaking her oath of office. Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat denounced Kawana Jenkins’ actions in a statement to the media. Although the alleged affair involving Kawana Jenkins stunned the community, connections between prisoners and jail staff are nothing uncommon.
