Who is Johnny Furphy?
Johnny Furphy is a basketball player and freshman at the University of Kansas who was born on December 7, 2004 in Victoria. A look at Johnny Furphy’s career so far
Furphy’s year had started somewhat uneventfully. The Australian only attempted two shots (both from three), making one of them and adding a free throw in Kansas’ conference opener against TCU in Lawrence.
He finished with just four points and three rebounds in the first game in January. Furphy finished with nine points and four rebounds after converting four of eight shots from the field and just one of four from beyond the three-point line in that contest. Furphy had a respectable game overall.
Furphy erupted offensively against Oklahoma State, going 83% from the field and 75% from three (three of four) on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds in the Cowboys’ annihilation. Once more, Furphy had a great start to the game, scoring every point in the first 20 minutes. This season, Furphy has come of age, quickly solidifying his position as one of the main players on one of the most potent teams in college basketball. He is now eligible for the 2024 NBA Draft.
