He was very drawn to acting and asked his uncle Hunusur Krishnamurthy who is a film director to give him an opportunity to act. He gave up his career and begin acting in films in 1963.
Dwarakish career
Dwarkish began his career in cinema with a little role in Hunasur Krishnamoorty’s film “Veera Sankalpa.β Later on, he appeared in a few cameos in the films Satya Harischandra and Maduve Madi Nodu. Then, in 1966, he co-produced the film Mamatheya Bandhana under the Thunga Pictures label.
His debut independently was marked with Mayor Muthanna which starred Bharathi and Dr. Rajkumar in the key characters. This 1969 film was a box office hit. Dwarakish brought Kannada cinema a string of box office triumphs consecutively for the next twenty years, following Mayor Muthanna.
In 1985, Dwarakish began directing motion pictures. His debut film as a filmmaker was Nee Bareda Kadambari. Later on, he directed films for other producers. He made films as a director, including Rayaru Bandaru Mavana Manege, Dance Raja Dance, Nee Bareda Kadambari, Shruthi, and Shruthi Haakidha Hejje.
Dwarakish’s massive box office losses led to his dismissal from both his own colleagues and the film industry as a whole. Even after failing, Dwarakish remained optimistic. He persisted in producing films that brought fresh talent to Kannada cinema.
