Arvind Kejriwal has been granted bail 91 days after his arrest in an alleged money laundering case. The same judge who extended his judicial custody until July 3 has now granted him bail.

On Wednesday, the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi granted bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the alleged money laundering case.

The order was issued by Vacation Judge Justice Bindu of the Rouse Avenue Court. Kejriwal was granted bail 91 days after his arrest.

Identity of the Judge

Supreme Court lawyer Indira Jaising congratulated Arvind Kejriwal and his team on social media. She mentioned that the judge who granted bail is Justice Nyay Bindu.

After the end of his judicial custody, Kejriwal was presented before the court via video conference on Wednesday, May 19. During this hearing, Justice Bindu had extended his custody until July 3.

About Justice Bindu

The lawyers appearing before the Justice Nyay Bindu revealed that she has an excellent understanding of the law. In her brief career, she has handled both civil and criminal cases.

Previously, she has also served as a Senior Civil Judge in the North West District of Rohini Court in Delhi.

Earlier, she was in headlines when she made a mass literacy campaign by lightening up lamps at SKV, Krishna Nagar, Delhi. As of now, there is no further information available about Judge Nyay Bindu.

Conditions of Bail


The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Kejriwal on March 21, and he was subsequently sent to Tihar Jail on April 1.

Let us remind you, earlier during the election period, the Supreme Court had granted Arvind Kejriwal 21 days of interim bail. Following this bail period, Kejriwal surrendered at Tihar Jail on June 2 at 5 PM.

Though at the time, he attempted to extend his bail by suggesting he wasn’t well, but his suggestions weren’t successful and he had to surrender himself at the Tihar Jail.

Now, as aforesaid, Special Judge Justice Bindu granted him bail on a personal bond of Rs. 1 lakh. This decision was made after two days of arguments from both sides.

In addition, the court imposed conditions on his bail, including that he must not interfere with the investigation or attempt to influence witnesses.
